Verity AI · intelligence at the core
The assistant that runs on your firm's truth.
AI that works where your business does.
Verity works across your entire firm.
It reads across your matters, clients, documents, court diary, time and ledger, giving you answers in seconds, with citations you can open. Grounded in your data; never trained on it.
And Verity never acts on its own. Anything that changes your firm, whether a fee note, diary date, task or other record, comes to you as a proposal, showing the information it used, and waits for your approval.

01 · Court diary
Every court date the firm has, in one diary.
Matters, money and documents, set up for Tanzania — with the Tanganyika Law Society and your own court diary. Court-rule automation is verified in Kenya today; the Tanzania pack is written with counsel admitted there before it ships.
Hearings, mentions, filing dates and limitation dates you record, shared across the firm with reminders and cover. The rule pack for Tanzaniais prepared with counsel admitted there, because borrowing a neighbour's procedure would produce dates that are wrong in kind, not merely in number.
And the clocks that end a claim, counted down in one place.
The badge always carries its word, so no limitation date is told by colour alone.

What this does not establish. The search matched the names given against the firm's own clients, matters and parties. A name spelled differently, a beneficial owner nobody recorded, or a matter not yet on the system will not appear here.
02 · Intake
The conflict you would rather find before the retainer.
A conflicts search is the one thing in the product that deliberately reads across matter walls — an advocate cannot discharge the duty while only seeing their own files. It is gated on a firm-admin permission, scoped to your firm alone, and audited with the names that were searched.
It will never tell you that you are clear. A search with no hits stays pending like any other, because the software has not cleared anything — a named advocate does, and the record keeps their name and the basis beside it.
03 · Client money
Client money and firm money — never the same account.
Matterly keeps trust funds ring-fenced from office funds and continuously reconciled, so the two sides always balance. Every amount carries its own currency, and each currency is tied on its own.

Ties · USD reconciled on its own
What the tie does not establish. It compares three of the firm's own figures with each other. There is no bank feed: a tie is necessary for the books to be right and is not sufficient to show the cash is there.
Matterly never holds your client money. It stays in your own designated client account. The product records and reconciles it, with overdrawn-matter alerts and a double-entry ledger behind it, and moves none of it.
04 · Signing
Signed from the matter, filed back to the matter.
E-signature is native, not a third-party envelope with your document inside it. It starts from the file the document already belongs to, takes as many signers as the instrument needs, and verifies each one with a one-time code sent to them alone.
Your client signs in their own portal — the same place they see the matters you have shared with them, per person rather than per company. When the last signature lands, the executed copy is filed against the matter as a new version, and every step is on the audit trail underneath it.
- Multiple signers, in order
- An envelope closes when the last one signs, not the first.
- A one-time code per recipient
- Sent to that signer, not shared across the envelope.
- Per-person portal access
- Two people at one client can hold different access to the same file.
- Versioned back onto the file
- The executed copy is a version of the document, not an email attachment.

What this does not establish. A one-time code proves the person held the address or number the firm sent it to. It is not identity verification, and Matterly does not screen anyone against a register.
05 · Where it applies
Books kept to Tanzania standard, not to a template.
A shared drive, a spreadsheet and a WhatsApp group is how most of this is held together, and not one of the three can tell you whether client money ties tonight. Matterly runs a real double-entry ledger in TZS and ring-fences client money the way the Tanganyika Law Society expects it to be ring-fenced.
Matters, money and documents, set up for Tanzania — with the Tanganyika Law Society and your own court diary. Court-rule automation is verified in Kenya today; the Tanzania pack is written with counsel admitted there before it ships.
- Double-entry in TZS
- One ledger for the financial year, not a spreadsheet.
- Receipts against the ledger
- Cash, cheque, transfer or mobile money, recorded with its reference and reconciled.
- VAT and withholding on the note
- Configured by your firm to its own rates, computed on the note and posted to the ledger.
- The TLS scale of fees
- Bills of costs assembled from the same time and disbursements as the fee note.
Questions worth the honest answer
Does it integrate with mobile money, my bank, or Tanzania Revenue Authority?
No, and we would rather say so here than in your first week. There are no payment, banking or tax-authority integrations today. Receipts are recorded as they arrive, whether cash, cheque, transfer or mobile money, with the transaction reference, and reconciled against the money account they landed in. Tax is computed on the fee note and posted to the ledger, ready for your own return.
Are court deadlines calculated automatically?
In Kenya, yes: the rules, the court calendar and public holidays ship there. In Tanzania the diary runs against dates you record while the rule pack is prepared with counsel admitted there, because borrowing a neighbour's procedure would produce dates that are wrong in kind, not just in number.
Can clients sign documents?
Yes. E-signature is native, not a bolt-on: an envelope wraps a document from the matter it belongs to, takes multiple signers, verifies each one with a one-time code, and files the executed copy back against the matter with a full audit trail. Clients can sign from the client portal.
Does Matterly hold our client money?
Never. Client money stays in your own designated client account. Matterly records and reconciles it three ways, with overdrawn-matter alerts and a double-entry ledger behind it, and every amount carries its own currency. It does not hold or move any of it.
Is the AI trained on our files?
No. Verity reads your matters, clients, documents, deadlines, time and ledger entries to answer a question, and cites what it used so you can open the source. Your data is not used to train a model.
What happens to the data we already have?
Every plan includes migration and onboarding. Matters, clients, documents and opening balances come across; the ledger starts from balances you confirm, not from a guess.
